Yoga Means……….

When you begin your yoga journey one of the first things you will learn is what yoga means. You may hear the following: to unite, to bring together, union, to be yoked, balanced and there is more. But when you are fortunate enough to meet a linguistic master, the term “deepen your practice” takes on a whole new meaning, especially when he is also a Yogi.

I love Yoga. I also love how it reminds me every day that there is so much to learn and that I always feel as though I just scratched the surface. I have had the pleasure of studying with many amazing teacher’s of Yoga. Recently I have been studying with Jeffrey Armstrong and truly he is one of the most knowledgeable people about yoga, the Bhagavad gita, the Mahabharata and on top of this he is a linguistic master. This means he can teach you the root of languages and where they come from. For example our English word rhythm comes from the Sanskrit word Ritam.

Jeffrey say’s “Yoga means to reestablish the link between our eternal self and the source of our being” and he goes on to say “according to the Yogi’s, we have forgotten about this, which is knowledge that reminds us who we really are and give us the tools to reestablish that linkage to yoga and that this is the essence of Yoga.

Now as a student of yoga, as well as a teacher of Yoga I can easily say that when you practice every day balancing and uniting your mind, body and spirit you are ultimately lead down the path of living consciously at everything you do in the best humanly way possible. You can easily try this your self, I will be happy to help you.

Follow these simple suggestions:

  1. Acknowledge each day at the beginning and the end, remember you don’t get do over’s
  2. Each day think of 10 people and things you are thankful for.
  3. Acknowledge the planet as another radiant being

That should give you a great start
